A Light Breeze in August
Not Botticelli’s zephyr about to lift
away the nymph who morphs
into the presence of summer
but a light breeze that trills
over pebbles bathed
in the flow of clear water
that knows the way to its source
like a child, knees flashing
in the sun as she runs
to jump into the basket
of her mother’s arms.
