Eleanor Crews

a sad decay

there is a dead snake in the taco bell parking lot. my heart goes out to her,
but there is nothing to be done now. i don’t know how to be smart anymore.
the tank fills up with gas. maybe i was never smart to begin with.
vultures are eating her neck. things like this are hard to look at,
but it’s like a house with a falling-in roof. i don’t know how to stop.
