Carolyn Martin

What remains

after horsefeathers     bolt     from pundits’ mouths
and gaslighting     hypes      it’s the latest art form
butterflies still     feel     with their feet     and goldfish
out-swim     every myth     about their memories
perennials know     the time    between seasons
isn’t death     and life’s a series     of repeated narratives
even justice     arrives     occasionally
listen hard     hope slips     into     your hands
and invites you     to break bread     each mizzling dawn
while earth ends     a little more    then     a little     more
